Worldwide Bulk SMS
What is Bulk SMS? It is the ability to send the same text message through mobile carriers to the recipient cell phone to a list of 1 to 250,000 phone numbers with a single. Ours is "long-code" service. This simply means your message is sent directly to the recipient's cell phone number. This service is primarily used as a low-cost method of mobile marketing. All messages must comply with applicable local regulations. We can send your message to 951 mobile operators in 229 countries.
What does Short Code and Long Code mean? We DO NOT (yet) offer short-code service. Short code service is much more reliable than long code. This is the system in which the sender is assigned a 5 or 6 digit number which shows up on the recipient's phone as the Sender ID. It requires individual setup through each mobile operator (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.) and takes some time to provision (days or weeks). It is also far more expensive. Because of the set up procedure and the direct contract and provisioning requirements with each mobile operator, almost all messages are delivered quickly. Short code is sent with a random (but valid) Sender ID so the recipient only knows who sent the message when you identify yourself IN the message. Both are valid and heavily used methods of contacting large numbers of people through SMS (Short Message Service, AKA Text Messaging).
What Percent of Messages are Delivered? The percent can vary drastically, from a low of about 40% to a high into the mid-90% range. A rough average is in the mid-70% range. Of course, many circumstances outside our control dictate the percent of message actually delivered to the recipient. Long code service is much cheaper than short-code service. It is also less reliable. This is because we have no direct contract with the mobile operators. In cases where no direct contract exists, all mobile operators accept messages from out-of-network carriers but these messages are assigned a low priority. So, there are many circumstances that can interrupt the delivery of your message, such as mobile phone is off, user is out of area, weak signal, congestion (too many messages in the system at the time of delivery) and other interruptions. In such cases, because there is no direct contract with the mobile operator, when these conditions occur, the message is dropped. But the mobile operator still charges us the fee, which we must pass to our customers. Nonetheless, long-code mobile marketing and message delivery/notification often proves to be the least expensive and most effective method of delivering your message to a large number of people for a very small price, when it is used in compliance with local jurisdiction regulations and intelligently.
